Round 9 Europe

Track History: Brands Hatch, Nurburgring, Donington and Jerez (1983-1997), Nurburgring (1999-2007) and Valencia (2008-)
Previous Winners at Valencia: Felipe Massa (2008) and Rubens Barrichello (2009)
Since the European Grand Prix became a standalone event in the Formula 1 calendar in 1983, a number of different countries and circuits have hosted the race. After a prolonged spell in Germany at the Nurburgring, Valencia’s street circuit in Spain is now the host of the Grand Prix. Comparisons are immediately drawn with Monaco as Valencia is a street race by the harbour, but Valencia is a much faster and wider circuit than its Monaco counterpart. The stunning marina location is visually appealing for the street race in which overtaking is a more common occurrence than at many street circuits. Brazilian F1 drivers have definitely enjoyed the location, with Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello winning both the races to date.
