Round 4 China

Track History: Shanghai International Circuit (2004-)

Previous Winners: (2004), (2005), (2006), (2007), (2008) and (2009)

The Shanghai International Circuit is one of the most expensive facilities on the F1 calendar costing $250 and taking eighteen months to build. Designed by Hermann Tilke, the architect who also designed the Formula 1 circuits at Malaysia, Bahrain and amongst others, the Shanghai circuit features the longest straight on the Formula 1 calendar where much of the overtaking takes place. The tricky corner combination of turns one, two and three have a high entry speed and tighten sharply, providing a stiff test for the drivers. The Chinese Grand Prix made its debut in 2004 and interestingly there have been no repeat winners of the race, with Sebastian Vettel taking the honours in 2009.
