Round 12 Hungary

Track History: Hungaroring (1986-)
Most Successful Drivers: Michael Schumacher (4 wins), Ayrton Senna (3), Nelson Piquet (2), Damon Hill (2), Jacques Villeneuve (2), Mika Hakkinen (2) and Lewis Hamilton (2)
When the inaugural Hungarian Grand Prix took place in 1986 it became the first Formula 1 race to take place behind the Iron Curtain. The challenging Hungaroring in Budapest is one of the toughest but safest circuits on the Formula 1 schedule. The twisty track makes overtaking difficult and means that the qualification stage of the Hungarian Grand Prix is essential, with a higher proportion of pole winners going on to take the chequered flag when compared to other F1 circuits. The McLaren Formula 1 team has dominated the Hungarian Grand Prix in recent years, with Lewis Hamilton’s wins in 2007 and 2009 sandwiched by Heikki Kovalainen’s victory in 2008.
