Anyone want more overtaking?

If you always put the fastest man at the front overtaking is going to be lacking.
Change the format of the weekend so there is no qualifying, just practices and make the grid in the reverse order of the previous race, we will see overtaking then.
Alternatively, if you want a less radical approach just ban blue flags. Let the leaders fight their way past the backmarkers and this will bunch up the leaders and cause more 'real' overtaking.

Yeah I think more overtaking is essential in making Formula 1 a more exciting and enthralling spectacle, and all ideas no matter how radical should be considered.
Not sure about banning blue flags, however I know many people have championed the reverse the grid idea and it might even work but I just can't see the teams agreeing to it.

Banning blue flags would be easier to pass through the rules and would give us, the paying spectators, more of a show.

I'd really like to see more overtaking as bahrain was the dullest, most boring and worst season opener ever. F1 has to improve and generate more overtaking or fans will drop like dead flies. Even Lewis Hamiltion's mum said the race was boring.

Yes, yes, yes, Bahrain was an anti-climax, but making massive wholesale changes to a 60 year old sport, and especially after the opening race, IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
The heavy reliance on aerodynamics has crippled the overtaking in the sport. It stems from a decade ago when the FIA forced grooved tyres, causing the teams to go with downforce for all their grip. We're now seeing the after effects of this. Last year was better because of slicks, and all the same width to maximise grip (a trick also developed because of grooves).
Unfortunately, the new regs mean heavier cars (hard to control) and smaller front tyres (harder to control), all of which sap the confidence of even the die hard of racers!
Mechanical grip is the way forward for the sport, grip which is there even in the dirty air of another car. Plus, with drivers going for conservative pace instead of all out speed, why try to take someone on grippy tyres after one lap on them, only to drive on the same worn tyres for another forty?

I puked up a huge diatribe on this very subject on the forum topic [b]Most parades are free to watch...[/b][i][u].
I think it's these new modern super tracks. Big, opulent, sweeping, elegant and having so many medium to high speed turns that there is only one racing line and not of enough difference in speed over the track that faster cars or cars with better braking can't overtake. Then of course the silly street circuits. Yeah try passing at 150 mph in a closet with no runoff area. And lets bloat the cars with a whale load of fuel too...
They might as well start driving those double decker buses you Brits have in the UK.
Come to think of it Top Gear has done that and everyone loved it. Maybe F1 should take note. I'd love to see a big red monolith power sliding around a turn at Singapore in cloud of tire smoke with hundreds of flash bulbs going off. And the expression on the engineers faces at Woking as they stare in horror at that monstrosity squatting in their wind tunnel would be priceless. The question is would they still go with the shark fin? I say yes but only if it's twice as big!

We need re-fueling back! it has only been one grand prix where they didn't use it and what a fun filled spectacle that was!?
banning blue flags isn't the answer, we don't want to slow down the leaders. Just need to make races more tactical again.

The spectacle has changed. Conservation is the name of the game now, not the flat out charging between pitstops as we're used to.
It doesn't bode well when this year's tagline is "watch the fastest cars in the world manned by the most skilled drivers....watch their fuel gauge and manage their tyres!!".
