The McLaren man had a disappointing 2011 of course, but he says that he is feeling refreshed and ready to launch a World title bid this year.

The 27-year-old said: “I feel very fresh. Whichever issues I had I’ve worked hard to clarify and make sure I come into this year without any worries.”

Most important is focus, to be world champion again.

“I feel very clear in my mind so I feel I can arrive on the right foot.”

Hamilton then spoke about how hard he has been working this winter, making sure he is 100% on his game when the 2012 season gets underway.

He continued: “It feels fantastic to be back.”

“I have been training an incredible amount over the winter but just in the right way – I gave myself plenty of time to recover and recuperate.”

“I think I’ve just matured. I’m 27 now. It’s the way you behave, the way you handle yourself, ways you interact with the team.”

There are definitely things I can pay more attention to and work harder on. Most important is focus, to be world champion again.”

“The car looks great. I saw it for the first time three days ago. I think it looks beautiful. Last year’s car looked a bit different – this one looks like a real car.”

“It’s very clean at the back, and that’s not fake. That’s how the car is. I hope it drives as well as it looks.”

The former World Champion took part in his first test for the team this week following two years away from the sport.

Speaking about how it went, Trackside operations director Alan Permane said: “From the first run he was pretty much there.”

“It’s very difficult to know where he should be but he was pretty much on the pace on the first run. He didn’t find a whole lot of pace during the day.”

“I don’t see any reason why he won’t be on the pace – you can tell he’s a very, very experienced driver.”

“It was very clear we were working with a former world champion. It was a good day.”

Hill is full of admiration for the German, saying that he deserves incredible credit for still competing at the highest level of Formula 1.

He said: “It’s unbelievable he’s still going, whilst I’ve been retired for 12 years.”

“He’s an extraordinary performer who clearly loves his driving and doesn’t want to stop. I can understand that.”

“But Formula One cannot carry people along if they are not doing their bit.”

The Brazilian was formally announced as Pastor Maldonado’s partner for the new season this week and he couldn’t be happier.

Speaking about what the future holds, Senna said: “I feel very privileged Williams has selected me as one of their race drivers.”

“The team has a great heritage and I hope I can help write a good chapter in their history.”

“The evaluation process has been intense and methodical, but the time I have spent in the factory has demonstrated the team has great people and all the resources needed to achieve better things this season.”

“It will be very interesting to drive for a team that my uncle has driven for, particularly as quite a few of the people here actually worked with Ayrton.”

“Hopefully we can bring back some memories and create some great new ones too.”

Referring specifically to continuing the Senna legacy, he said: “It’s something that’s been present for me since my first race, and I have learned how to deal with the memories I bring of Ayrton.”

“It’s very good for me to bring back memories of Ayrton in people. People are very fond of Ayrton and I am in no way trying to take his spotlight.”

“It brings me a great feeling, and I’m sure it’s going to be more special every day.”

Williams are yet to confirm who will partner Pastor Maldonado for the 2012 season, although Barrichello says he is positive about his chances of being retained.

Speaking about the current uncertainty, Barrichello said: “It’s taking longer than I wished for, to be honest.”

“I have been thinking positively, have always put it this way: you’ve got to believe in things and, if they haven’t happened just yet, you have got to believe that they have happened in your mind.”

“I am fighting for the position. I think there are two other drivers who have potential to be driving at Williams, but I feel like I am quite a good candidate and that I should be driving there.”

“Where are you going to find someone with my experience and so much of a will to do well? I still have so much feeling for the car and I want to drive it as fast as I can.”

“I don’t know how that is happening because, when I was in my 20s, I thought ‘I don’t know, maybe when I’m 30, I’m done’.”

“I’m now 39 and I’m still feeling ready to go. I think this is the best thing that can be happening to me right now and I hope to be driving this year.”

The 2008 World Champion had a difficult 2011 – both on and off the race track – but team director Jonathan Neale is convinced that positive times are ahead.

Speaking about Hamilton, he said: “He’s winter training really hard and he’s in the right place doing the things he needs to be doing.”

“What he needs to do is get himself in the car. He’s only got something to prove to himself. He’s his own biggest critic.”

“He puts extremely high demands on himself, we at the team are here to support him. It’s a tough business, you’ve got to get the job done.”

In recent times, they have struggled to match Ferrari and McLaren for success and they want this to change from now on.

Referring to the effort they are putting in, team boss Stefano Domenicali said: “The situation shouldn’t be the one we have lived the last couple of years.”

The Lotus man – who will drive a Formula 1 car for the first time since returning later this month – says that he is simply focused on his own mind set.

Referring to the people questioning the motives behind his return, Raikkonen said: “It has no effect on me.”

“Sometimes you hear some nonsense and sometimes you hear nice things.”

“The main thing is that coming back is what I wanted and I have a good opportunity with the team, so I’m happy.”

“I have never really looked at what people say or think. I do my own thing and, as long as I’m happy with it, then that’s the main thing for me.”

Grosjean – who was dropped by Renault in 2009 – admits that he is delighted to be given another chance, this time alongside the legendary Raikkonen.

The 25-year-old said: “There’s a big grin on my face at the prospect of getting behind the wheel of next year’s car.”

“To be racing alongside a former world champion – and someone who is hungry and returning to Formula 1 – will be a great experience. I’m sure it will help raise my level of performance too.”
