The new partnership of Kamui Kobayashi and Pedro De La Rosa looked steady after the first day’s practice at the Bahrain GP.

The attacking force of the Japanese driver was visible to all after he recorded the 11th quickest lap in session two after a poor first session by his standards.

Team-mate De La Rosa also had a mixed session on the first day of the 2010 season as he finished a place …

Date: 13th March 2010 at 2:19 pm | Filed under: Formula 1 News, Virgin | Author: Chris Airey | Tags: , , , , , , | image © Action Images

As a fan watching Formula One over the years, it has always been difficult to predict the success of a new team. All you have is testing and practices to make up your mind up and most of the time these cannot be an accurate source.

A team may be using a certain set-up or new parts that will make the car perform not at its full capacity. This can be seen …

Sebastian Vettel edged out Ferrari duo Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso as the Red Bull driver claimed pole position for Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix.

Last year's runner-up in the drivers' championship, behind Jenson Button, secured the sixth pole of his career by putting in a brisk lap the closing ten-minute qualifying session at the Sakhir circuit.

Behind Massa and Alonso was 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren while team-mate Button was eighth, just behind …

Battle of the Brits!

Date: 12th March 2010 at 3:00 pm | Filed under: Formula 1 News, McLaren | Author: Nick Tomlinson | Tags: , , , , | image © Action Images

When Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button go at each other in the 2010 season there are certainly going to be fireworks.  It also gives potential for another large fall out between two competitive drivers in Formula 1.

Hamilton is already familiar with such fall outs as he experienced in 2007 with Fernando Alonso. Both drivers being in a competitive car which left the team divided.

So what’s in store when Hamilton …

Mercedes enjoyed a fine start to the new Formula One season as Nico Rosberg was fastest in the second practice session ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir.

Rosberg was more than four tenths of a second faster than the rest of the runners, with 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton his nearest rival in his McLaren.

Michael Schumacher fired a warning to the rest of the field by being third fastest, with the seven-time …

Time to rise from the ashes for the sleeping F1 giant

Date: 12th March 2010 at 10:18 am | Filed under: Formula 1 News, Williams | Author: DaveMethold | Tags: , , , , , , | image © Action Images

Amazingly, it’s been 12 seasons since the might of the Williams team produced a World Champion. That’s quite an astonishing fact for a team that simply dominated the 1980’s and 90’s. Can the team start producing good cars again? Even if just for Frank Williams’ sake, I hope so.

How can a team so well established perform so badly for over a decade? Well put quite simply, I don’t think it’s any …

Will Virgin’s VR-01 be the future of F1?

Date: 12th March 2010 at 10:11 am | Filed under: Formula 1 News, Virgin | Author: Chris Airey | Tags: , , , | image © Action Images

The VR-01 is Virgin’s new revolutionary car for their debut season and it is the first ever to be made wholly by computational fluid dynamics and without any recourse to a wind tunnel.

Timo Glock this week spoke with the Formula One official website telling them this could be “the future of designing F1 cars.”

It may not be the fastest on circuit, but it is certainly something for the …

Alonso is red hot favourite for Bahrain!

It’s that time of year again when I’m acting like a little school boy as I can’t hold back my excitement for another F1 season to begin.

It’s my task to try and predict how everyone will get on in the races, but as this is the first race of the season I can only really predict the result of the race based on pre-season testing.

Fernando Alonso has been on fire during …

The return of Senna to F1

Date: 12th March 2010 at 9:54 am | Filed under: Formula 1 News, Hispania Racing | Author: DaveStubbings | Tags: , , , | image © Action Images

It’s been nearly 16 years since someone called Senna started a Formula 1 race.

However that will all change when Bruno, nephew of the great Ayrton, lines up in Bahrain for newcomers Hispania, formerly Campos.

It has been a long wait for the Brazilian who first tested a Honda (remember them?!) in December 2008 in a shootout to be Jenson Button’s teammate for the 2009 season.

Left without both a drive in either F1 …

Alonso targets title glory

Date: 12th March 2010 at 7:34 am | Filed under: Ferrari, Formula 1 News | Author: NewsDesk | image © Action Images

Fernando Alonso has warned the rest of the Formula One paddock that he is ready to win again following his winter switch to Ferrari.

The Spanish double world champion has spent three years in the wilderness since winning his last drivers' title in 2006.

Moves to McLaren and back to Renault have failed to bear fruit, but the 28-year-old appears to have won back his confidence following his off-season move to Ferrari.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's season-opening …
