Lewis Hamilton has been handed a three-place grid penalty at the Indian Grand Prix after he ignored caution flags in the first practice session.

Sauber’s Sergio Perez was hit with the same punishment, but this will not make Hamilton feel any better.

Officially, the penalty was for ”ignoring double waved yellow flags while marshals were in close proximity to track”.

A BBC pit-lane reporter said: “Lewis Hamilton accepted it. He is frustrated, but has no real beef with the stewards.”
