After Sebastian Vettel secured pole at the Italian Grand Prix, the top three drivers have all reacted to the Italian Grand Prix qualifying. 

Speaking at the drivers press conference, all three drivers seemed surprised at just how quick Vettel went round the famous Monza circuit.

Vettel: ”We thought it would be much closer. We did not think we could go on pole by that margin at Monza. The car is very good.”

Lewis Hamilton: ”The guys did a fantastic job. Me and Jenson were very competitive. The last lap was just untouchable.”

Jenson Button: ”Even if we got a little bit more out of the car, we were never going to challenge Seb. We look forward to a good race tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner expressed his delight at Vettel’s performance.

He said: ”That’s a massive margin. Completely unexpected. It was beyond our expectations.Unbelievable.”

It wasn’t such a good day for Vettel’s Red Bull team mate Mark Webber though who finished fifth fastest.

The Australian – who had previously said he was aiming for success at Monza this weekend – admitted: ”We were a bit late out. I made it a little bit difficult for the team today. It wasn’t the best Q3.”
