Ecclestone hits back at MP

has hit back at a leading Lib Dem MP for challenging the decision to change the majority of coverage to Sky TV.

As has been well publicised, the BBC will only show 10 live races next season, with Sky having full coverage.

There was a generally negative reaction to this and Formula1Fancast reported on Friday that the decision was to be challenged by senior MP’s.

Lib Dem MP Don Foster has since quoted Ecclestone as saying ‘The BBC brought Sky to us with the idea of a joint contract. It was not us who made that decision.’

Foster himself then said: “I am alarmed that there is such a gulf between your stories.”

Ecclestone has responded though, as you would expect him to, saying: “It is not realistic; he clearly does not understand the situation.”

“We would have loved to have stayed with the BBC but they could guarantee nothing.”
