Rosberg: “No one could win with my car”
Nico Rosberg has conceded that there is no way he can be a Grand Prix winner in his current car.
The Mercedes driver celebrated his 100th race in Hungary last time out, but he finished down in 9th and is yet to record a podium finish this season.
It has been tough season for him and team-mate Michael Schumacher, with Rosberg not able to finish above 5th as yet.
The German doesn’t think this is his own fault though, saying that nobody could challenge for the podium at the wheel of the W02.
He said: “No one could win with my car. There are three teams – Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren – who are ahead of the others. I need to wait to get a better car.”
“Later this year or early next year I will start to think about winning. With this car, to me seventh place is like winning.”
“In general it’s the aerodynamics, mechanically in terms of reducing weight,” he said. “The engine is fine, but the blown exhaust system, which is a very important part of the aerodynamics now, can be improved a lot. We’re working on it.”
