Formula 1 doesn’t get much friendlier than this
When it comes to Formula One, we’re used to teammates being at each other’s throats. In F1 right now, you wouldn’t exactly describe Red Bull pair Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber as best mates and there certainly isn’t any love lost between them. Going back a bit further, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost were often at loggerheads at McLaren in the late 1980s, with their collision at the 1989 Japanese Grand Prix particularly memorable. However, things are pretty friendly at McLaren right now.
Lewis Hamilton hasn’t always been known to be on great terms with his teammate, just ask former McLaren driver Fernando Alonso. But at the moment Hamilton and Jenson Button could be described as best buddies, and the two Brits really do seem to get on great on and off the track. A clash at the Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal earlier this season aside, Lewis and Jenson are comfortable within the team and while both of them want to be top dog, both appreciate each other’s ability on the track.
This is pretty unique within the world of F1, and with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone coming up this weekend, Button and Hamilton have been relaxing away from the track. Neither of them are shy of a bit of media attention, with Lewis dating worldwide famous pop star Nicole Scherzinger, and Jenson being seen at Wimbledon last weekend with his girlfriend Jessica Michibata, herself a Japanese model. While the four of them are the subject of many photos, this time Button and Hamilton are the ones behind the camera.
Here’s another Vodafone VIP classic as Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1′s Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are invited to a fashion photo shoot with a difference. The British Formula 1 duo is let loose as fashion photographers directing an ‘eccentric British summer’ shoot. This is a fashion photo shoot with a twist as Hamilton and Button discover their wacky, creative flair and are tasked with everything from choosing the wardrobe, to selecting props. Watch the video below to see how they got on…
Come this Sunday at Silverstone, there will be a great deal less joking and it won’t be all smiles when the pair are tearing around the track. Unlike Vettel and Webber, though, when the chequered flag has been waved, you can imagine Hamilton and Button going for a friendly pint afterwards. Who said there’s no room for friends in professional sport?
