The Formula One calendar has come to Europe and the season is now well and truly in full swing. This weekend arguably sees the highlight of the F1 calendar; the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix. The rich and famous will turn out to see this amazing spectacle and the F1 cars up close. Many spectators will wonder what it’s like to actually get behind the wheel of one of those magnificent pieces of engineering and travel at such high speeds.

In the world of motorsport, the only thing that comes close to the prestige of the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix is Le Mans 24. This race is legendary and is described by Audi Le Mans team leader as an entire F1 season in one day! That is how draining and challenging the race is and you can get a fascinating insight into what it’s like to be a Le Mans driver by watching the video below.

‘A Day in the Life of an Audi Driver’ is Audi’s first foray into the world of stereoscopic film-making. Its striking combination of hand-drawn black and white illustration with stereoscopic 3D technology is ground-breaking. The film features Allan McNish describing what it takes to win the legendary Le Mans 24-hour race, and boy does it take a lot! Just hearing the g-forces involved is staggering, but then when you think about the timeframes it really does blow your mind.

There are few better people to tell you about Le Mans than Allan McNish. The British racing driver has won the legendary race twice, in 1998 and ten years later in 2008. His team, Audi is also a dominant force at Le Mans, winning 9 times in the last 11 years. Le Mans perfectly exemplifies the Audi ethos and its approach to engineering and product development. In short, it’s Vorsprung durch Technik in action.

So, Audi have a similar dominance in Le Mans to what Red Bull have in F1 right now. But if Sebastian Vettel thought he had it tough, then maybe he should talk to Allan about what he goes through every year!
