It took all 19 races in this year’s Formula 1 season to crown a Champion. For the first time in five years the Championship wasn’t decided at the circuit in Brazil, but at the Yas Marina circuit in . Four drivers went into the race with a chance of becomming World Champion and ultimately the best man came out on top.

Going into the race could only hope for a miracle for to be crowned Champion needing bad fortune for all his other rivals just for him to stand a chance. also needed their other driver to perform well to ensure they kept second place in the constructors Championship. The two Brits managed to finish in second and third place ensuring second in the Constructors however this was not enough to give Lewis his second World Champion finishing behind who has now taken his record for the youngest ever World Champion.

Hamilton ended up finishing fourth in the title race ahead of his team mate but more importantly behind, Sebastian Vettel, and . Button will be disappointed to no longer have the number one on his car, but he will also be disappointed to have lost the in-house battle to Lewis Hamilton, but nevertheless Jenson should luck back on his first season with McLaren as a success, as he’s showed he can mix it with the big teams and that he can work well in a team previously labelled as a team built around Lewis Hamilton.

I think ultimately McLaren will look back at a season which could have been so much better for them especially Lewis Hamilton with a bitter taste in the mouth. In Spain a tyre failure cost Lewis second place, those extra points could have been the difference between fourth in the World Championship and first. But it hasn’t just been bad luck which has cost him this title, silly mistakes in Italy and Singapore have ultimately cost him this year. Two DNF’s in a row put him in a poor position and from then on he was always fighting a losing battle.

This season really has been a brilliant spectical with so many different drivers challenging for the title and I really hope it doesn’t change next year. This season really has put Formula 1 back on the sporting calendar where it belongs, and I for one cannot wait for March next year to go through another rollacoaster of a season again!
