Korean GP gets go-ahead

The Korean Grand Prix will take place as planned later this month after Formula One officials inspected the track on Tuesday.
The FIA's technical delegate Charlie Whiting has ruled that the race will go ahead on 24 October after completing a two-day inspection, with particular attention paid to the final layer of asphalt.
F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone had expressed doubts about whether the race could proceed after a 21 September inspection was called off but Whiting has described the track as "satisfactory".
Korea Automobile Racing Association chairman Chung Yung-cho said after the ruling was made: "We join the whole of Korea in welcoming the Formula 1 fraternity to the Korea International Circuit for the first time."
