Lewis Hamilton has admitted the lack of a Grand Prix victory at Monza leaves a hole on his impressive Formula One CV.

The McLaren driver became the youngest ever Formula One World Champion when he followed up his debut 2007 season with title success in 2008.

He has since won 14 races during a glittering career but has never taken the chequered flag at the venue for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

Hamilton won the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa two weeks ago to add that historic circuit to his list of previous accomplishments, which also includes race victories at Monaco and Silverstone.

"Yeah, I've always looked at those four circuits on the calendar as being a little more special than the others," he told his official website.

"A couple of years ago, I remember David Coulthard saying he was proud to win those four Grands Prix for McLaren because they somehow connected him to the history of the sport and I know exactly what he means.

"It's because those venues are unique – they're very special; you can feel the history at those races more than anywhere else.

"That's why I was so pleased and proud to have finally won at Spa – because it's a giant of the sport and it means something to every driver who's ever raced there."

Hamilton currently leads the way at the top of the drivers' standings from the Red Bull duo of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, plus McLaren team-mate Jenson Button with six races remaining in the 2010 season.
