Five races! Five drivers! Anyone’s game!
The Formula 1 season is drawing to an end with all the European races completed and with only Japan, Korea, Brazil and Abu Dhabi remaining but of course before them is the glamorous night race of Singapore this weekend.
McLaren will be going to Singapore with the hope that they do a lot better than they did two weeks ago in Monza with only one car finishing. If their drivers want to stay in the hunt for the title then they’ll have to be at the top of their game as it is widely suspected that the Red Bull will dominate the streets of Singapore. Just like their car has at so many circuits this year.
With only five races remaining the Championship couldn’t be closer with five drivers vying to become the 2010 Formula 1 World Champion. Mark Webber leads the Championship by five points to the 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton; he in turn is only 16 points ahead of the double World Champion Fernando Alonso, after his win in Monza is now a point ahead of Jenson Button who is two ahead of the young German Sebastian Vettel.
Button’s excellent second place in Monza put him right back into contention as it looked like he was dropping out of the running when scoring no points in Belgium it shows that the new points rule for this year has worked perfectly leaving five drivers to compete for the title over the last five races.
Hamilton’s mistake at the first lap of the Italian Grand Prix cost him any chance of points, this will make him even more determined when going to Singapore so he can try and regain his place at the top of the Championship. He showed great determination last year when he won in Singapore even though he didn’t have the best car.
My predictions for this weekend are that it will be very close at the front of the grid but I think the Red Bulls will just get pole, but if they’re facing each other at the start then anything can happen, and it could be wide open for anyone to grasp.
