Todt leaps to Schumacher defence

FIA president Jean Todt has warned Michael Schumacher's critics against prematurely writing off the seven-time world champion.
The 41-year-old German has struggled to match the current crop of leading Formula One drivers for pace following his return with Mercedes after a three-year retirement this season.
Schumacher is currently ninth in the standings, having amassed less than half the points of team-mate Nico Rosberg.
But with critics beginning to question the wisdom of Schumacher making a return to the sport, Todt has leapt to the defence of a the driver he worked extensively with during a glittering spell at Ferrari.
The former executive director of Ferrari turned FIA chief said: "Michael is a great person, a great champion. I mean, I don't know somebody else who has won seven titles and 91 grand prix.
"Some people when they judge, they must be very careful, very respectful of what he has been doing."
