Monaco rain a good omen for Brit
The Formula 1 teams will be racing around the sport’s most glamorous circuit on Sunday, is it of course time for the street circuit of Monaco.
McLaren’s drivers have won the last two Monaco Grand Prix, both on their way to being crowned Formula 1 World Champion. McLaren have a very strong record in Monaco having won 15 races at the principality.
Jenson Button will be looking for his third win of the season, though the weather seems to have a dramatic affect on his race performances this year, in the races which have been dry Button has struggled, however when rain is involved he excels and has won two races in the wet already this year.
What looks good for Button is that some rain is expected over the race weekend, we have already seen the weather have a dramatic affect on both qualifying and the race itself, add this to the street circuit of Monaco and there’s bound to be fireworks.
Lewis Hamilton will be chasing his first victory of the season; he’s been outstanding all year and is extremely unlucky not to have won a race. Last week in Spain Hamilton suffered a tyre failure on the penultimate lap taking him out of the race; this lost him a massive 18 points from his Championship competitors.
I believe Hamilton can bounce back, and I think he’s got everything and could still easily be World Champion come the end of the season.
One of the most important aspects of the race weekend in Monaco is qualifying as the race is notoriously difficult to overtake, and usually who ever is on pole will lead the race start to finish.
This year there will be 24 drivers taking part in qualifying and with the bottom six being extremely slower than the other cars there is going to be lots of traffic. So we could be seeing some shocks and I think the person whose on pole will be the one who’s found the least traffic at the right time on the track.
