US F1 seek deferred entry

The US F1 team has applied to world motorsport's governing body the FIA for special dispensation that would allow them to defer entry into Formula One until 2011.
They were one of four new teams added for this season – with Lotus, Virgin and Hispania the others – but with sponsorship deals not going through as planned, the team have asked for the deferral.
Team principal Ken Anderson said: "If the FIA say no (to the deferral) we are done. If they say yes we can put it back in gear and go."
Anderson welcomed FIA technical chief Charlie Whiting to the team's headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina and he believes he will have been happy what was put in front of him.
"He looked at the factory and was happy that we've got all we need to make a perfectly good Formula One car," he added.
"We're on hold. Our future's in the hands of the FIA."
