Renault move a stepping stone to F1 success for Robert Kubica?
Robert Kubica’s move from BMW Sauber to Renault could be the best of his career.
The 25 year-old Polish driver has had a mixed 2 years in F1 but will be looking to put himself into contention for this year’s crown.
The start to last year’s campaign was one that Kubica could do without remembering, but he picked up in the 2nd half of the season and recorded his best finish at the Brazilian Grand Prix where he finished in second place after an impressive drive.
BBC Commentator Martin Brundle has had this to say about the move:
“Kubica has parked himself at Renault for a year probably hoping he will get into one of the grandee teams such as Ferrari, which Renault have recently sadly fallen away from being. He won’t lack determination, speed, or commitment behind the wheel.”
His attacking driving ability has him in good stead ahead of the start of the season and he will definitely be looking for more podium finishes in the 2010 season.
With the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and other young prospering drivers it looks like a good time for F1. Kubica will be looking to secure a move to a more successful team in the next few years where he can realistically push for the title currently held by Britain’s Jenson Button, as Formula One World Champion.
Renault has had a quiet few seasons in F1 since Fernando Alonso’s sensational years, but with the Spaniard, who is Kubica’s closest friend incidentally, in the Ferrari hot-seat this year, Kubica will look to push the team into constructor’s contention as well as get himself known more for his exceptional driving style.
