McLaren ready to challenge for the F1 title
McLaren will be hoping for a much better start to the 2010 World Championships than that of the 2009 season. Last year’s season couldn’t have started any worse. With a dreadful car and their star driver Lewis Hamilton involved in a ‘lie-gate’ scandal.
With the first race in Bahrain fast approaching both drivers will be looking to take some serious points from the season opener. With the McLaren’s pace in testing both cars should be challenging and we may even see one of the drivers on the top step of the podium.
This season looks a lot more encouraging than that of 12 months ago. The car has looked fast and reliable through pre-season testing, with Hamilton fastest at the last test in Barcelona.
New boy at the team Jenson Button hasn’t found it as easy to settle in his new McLaren, describing the first test session as “frustrating”.
With current World Champion Button joining the team, McLaren arguably have their strongest line-up for some time. They have the past two World Champions driving for them creating an all British line up in a British team.
Not only will both drivers be aiming for another World title to add to their collections, but the team will be looking to win the Constructors Championship which McLaren haven’t managed to win since 1998.
