Italian Grand Prix staying at Monza

The Italian Grand Prix will be staged at Monza until 2016 following an agreement between the historic circuit and Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone.
Monza's almost unbroken hosting of the race since 1922 was reported to be under threat from a street race through Rome.
However, Ecclestone has now agreed a four-year extension to the existing contract, which was due to expire in 2012.
The only other circuit to have hosted the Italian Grand Prix is Imola, which staged the Italian Grand Prix in 1980.
Last year's race was won by Rubens Barrichello ahead of team-mate Jenson Button in a Brawn GP one-two. This year's race will take place on September 12.

Great news. We don’t want more street races. Yes, Monaco is great, but only due to its aura rather than the racing that goes on. Iconic tracks like Monza, Silverstone and Spa should always be on the calendar.
