A Ferrari 1-2 in the opening race. The men from Maranello could not have asked for a better start. We talk about who will be crowned World Champion this year and which of the new teams will come out on top. Will Michael Schumacher win the Driver’s title for the 8th time?

After much anticipation the 2010 Formula 1 season finally got underway last weekend as the twelve F1 teams lined up in Bahrain for the first Grand Prix of the season. The race may not have been the most exhilarating spectacle in the world but it certainly provided plenty of talking points, none more controversial than the ban on refueling that seems to have back fired thus far. As expected the race was split up into three battles, with one race between the top four teams, another between the midfield pack and the three new teams racing for pride.

Lotus won the battle of the new teams as they outshone both Virgin Racing and Hispania, the latter of which did well just to make the grid. Hamilton beat Button in the battle of the Brits, Schumacher was beaten by his German Mercedes teammate Rosberg, and Vettel’s hopes of victory were dashed as his Red Bull car suffered a mechanical problem. That left the Ferrari’s to secure a 1-2 finish, with Massa performing admirably on his return to the sport, so is Alonso the man to beat?
