Vitaly Petrov
Team: Renault
First F1 Race: 2010 (debut season)
Russian driver Vitaly Petrov is a newcomer to Formula 1 in 2010 and will become the first Russian driver to compete in F1 when he lines up for the Bahrain Grand Prix. 25 year old Petrov has had a different route to F1 compared to most current drivers due to the lack of motorsport in his homeland. After being spotted in the Russian Lada Cup he was picked up to compete in Formula Renault in 2003 before retuning to Russia. After 4 years in the GP2 series, Petrov is now set to make the difficult step up to Formula 1. Petrov will very much be the second driver behind Robert Kubica at Renault but the Russian has a great opportunity to make a name for himself in F1 in 2010.
