US F1 to miss season’s start

Doubts continue to surround US F1 after the team's boss asked the FIA whether it was possible to miss the first four races of the season.

Ken Anderson has admitted that his team is struggling financially but still hopes to play some part in the season.

He told the New York Times: "We're working with the FIA to clarify how many races we can miss. In an ideal world, we can miss the first four races and show up in Barcelona.

"What would be the point of throwing us out? Why would they give us a franchise and the first time there's a bump in the road, yank it and put it out of business?

"That's definitely not the message that I'm getting from them. They want to help us, not shut us down."

Jose Maria Lopez has already been confirmed as one of US F1's drivers, although rumours suggest the Argentine is considering joining another team, with Anderson adding: "I'm sure he's weighing up his options as well."
