Stefan F1, really?

Is another team really a way to go? Fair enough, that more cars will mean more drivers that will mean more revenue but having up to, 28 competitors on the track will not necessary mean a better quality of racing.

Serbian Formula 1 team Stefan GP seems to be having a growing status that they’ll be the latest team to join the sport, especially with casting doubts whether new teams Campos Meta and USF1 will make the grid for the season opener in Bahrain next month.

However, if they are granted permission to compete that will possibly leave 14 teams with two drivers each and a packed outfield. With a season that will include the return of the Schumacher, a raring to go Lewis and an extremely determined , we do not need mediocre drivers holding up the tail preventing these drivers being the showcase event.

Yes, be all for expanding the sport and make it more interesting but having the best generation of drivers competing up top, they will need to have allowance to race competitively, not having to worry about overtaking a slow tail-ender.

There is no bombshell that finance ‘expert’ is all for the idea. The Serbain government is backing Stefan GP and it was chance for the old Bernster to creep up the backside of some Serbian royalty or senior officials, and that is hardly surprising.

Ecclestone has even said that he has spoken to the Prime Minister of Serbia to rectify all the butt kissing and he is convinced that Stefan GP has financial support. Well it’s not that rare the old charmer is so easily seduced by wealthy businessmen.

Anyhow, Stefan are expected to announce their driver line-up shortly and rumours are that two of the following: Kazuki Nakajima, Ralf Schumacher, and Christian Klein are in contention for another battle in F1.

Personally, Ralfy should have another crack at his brother and Klein should make the two as Nakajima is as reliable as Tesco value toilet paper and if the Japanese driver manages to finish a race it’s a small miracle. His no point season last year exemplifies that point.

Again these drivers went out of the sport for a reason – that they are simply not good enough. So why are they being reintroduced? If they had the talents of Michael then it’s worth a punt, but it is plainly obvious they don’t.
