Michael Schumacher believes Ferrari will be the team to beat when the new Formula One season begins in two weeks' time.

Schumacher has ended his three-year retirement to drive for Mercedes GP in 2010 but has been impressed with the speed of the two Ferraris – driven by Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso – during pre-season testing in Jerez.

Ferrari have derided the decision to allow USF1 and Campos Meta to be included in the 2010 Formula One season, pinning most of the blame on the former FIA president Max Mosley.

Both teams are struggling to be ready in time for next month's opening Grand Prix of the season in Bahrain and Ferrari are baffled as to why Mosley allowed them to gain entry to the sport.

Soucek takes Virgin test spot

Virgin Racing have confirmed that Andy Soucek is to join the team as their reserve and test driver for the 2010 Formula One season.

The 24-year-old Spaniard won the 2009 Formula Two championship and he will now work under Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi.

He tasted Formula One action with Williams at the young driver's test in December.

Campos buy-out confirmed

Campos look as though they will be ready for the start of the new season next month after the team's weekend buy-out.

Bruno Senna and Jose Maria Lopez could be the two drivers after Jose Ramon Carabante bought owner Adrian Campos' share of the team.

Campos has been replaced as team principal by ex-Force India boss Colin Kolles, although the new ownership and driver line-up are still to be confirmed.
